Create drag and drop maths exercises

Build equations with empty slots and let the pupil drag the right numbers and operators into place. Works for addition, subtraction, multiplication and number bonds to ten.

Every answer is checked immediately, so the pupil can see where it went wrong. Use the exercise on the classroom board or set it as homework.

How to create this exercise

  1. Choose the operation and how many equation rows the page has.
  2. Choose what gets hidden: one of the numbers or the operator.
  3. Set a minimum and maximum for the answer if you want to keep the numbers in range.
  4. Turn on a third number if you want longer equations.

Tip: Hiding the operator makes the pupil work out the operation itself. That practises something different from finding a missing number, so it is worth alternating between the two.
