Interactive blank map

The map activity practises geographical orientation and the understanding of location. The pupil locates countries and continents on a blank map and builds a mental picture of how places relate to one another.

Being interactive makes the practice repeatable and self-directed: the pupil tries, gets feedback and corrects themselves. The map can be limited to your own topic — your country, Europe, the world — and the difficulty graded to the group.

How to create this exercise

  1. Choose the mode: an info map or a quiz.
  2. Choose the view — globe or flat map — and limit the region.
  3. Pick the countries that belong to the task.
  4. You can give a country its own display name, an explore text and pronunciation audio.

Tip: Limit the map to the region you are teaching. The whole world at once scatters attention, and a region the pupil can grasp as a whole is far easier to remember.
