Create matching pairs exercises

Put the matching items in two columns — word and picture, number and quantity, question and answer — and let the pupil draw a line between them.

The line is drawn with a pen or a finger, and the exercise recognises the correct pairs on its own. Suits every subject, from languages to science.

How to create this exercise

  1. Choose how many pairs the page has.
  2. Choose the content for each side: text, image or audio.
  3. Fill in the pairs so that matching items sit on the same row.
  4. Write the instruction and add a rewarding animation image if you like.

Tip: Pairing an image with audio suits language teaching: the pupil links what they hear straight to the meaning, without a written word, so reading ability does not limit the task.
